Golden hour is the most flattering light there is: low, warm and forgiving. This look recreates it on skin, so you glow whether you’re in the sun at four or under candlelight at ten.

1. Prep for glow, not shine

Start with a hydrating serum and let it sink in for a full minute. Press a pea-sized amount of SHEGLAM Complexion Pro Foundation into the centre of the face with fingertips, then blend outwards with a damp sponge. Keep the edges sheer.

2. Warm the eyes

Sweep a matte taupe through the crease with a fluffy brush, then press a bronze shimmer onto the lid with a fingertip for the most reflective finish. Smudge the same bronze along the lower lash line.

“Put shimmer only where light naturally hits: the lid, the high cheekbone and the cupid’s bow.”

3. Finish with a satin lip

Line with a liner one shade deeper than your lips, then press Pillow Talk in Pillow Talk Medium on with a fingertip for a softer, satin finish. Mist with setting spray and you’re done.

The nude lipstick guide for South Asian skin

Why most nudes read grey on deeper skin, and how to pick one that does not.

Most nude lipsticks are formulated against fair skin. On medium and deep skin the same shade can read grey, chalky or simply absent. The fix is not a darker nude — it is a warmer one.

What "nude" actually means

Nude is not a colour, it is a relationship: a shade close to your own lip tone, usually one or two steps deeper. That means the right nude for you is different from the right nude for someone two shades lighter.

Look for warmth

Shades described as caramel, toffee, terracotta, rose-brown or mauve-brown carry enough warmth to stay visible on deeper skin. Shades described as beige, blush or pink-nude often do not.

If a lipstick looks grey on your hand, it will look greyer on your mouth. Hands are usually deeper than lips, so that test is forgiving.

Finish changes everything

A matte nude reads deeper and flatter. A satin or cream nude reflects a little light and keeps the lip looking full. For a first nude, a satin is the safer purchase.

Build it with liner

A liner one step deeper than the lipstick, blended inwards, gives a nude definition it cannot get on its own. This is the difference between a nude that looks intentional and one that looks like nothing.

Two is better than one

Most people end up with two nudes: a lighter one for daytime and a deeper one for evening. Buying both at once is usually cheaper than buying the wrong one twice.
