Golden hour is the most flattering light there is: low, warm and forgiving. This look recreates it on skin, so you glow whether you’re in the sun at four or under candlelight at ten.

1. Prep for glow, not shine

Start with a hydrating serum and let it sink in for a full minute. Press a pea-sized amount of SHEGLAM Complexion Pro Foundation into the centre of the face with fingertips, then blend outwards with a damp sponge. Keep the edges sheer.

2. Warm the eyes

Sweep a matte taupe through the crease with a fluffy brush, then press a bronze shimmer onto the lid with a fingertip for the most reflective finish. Smudge the same bronze along the lower lash line.

“Put shimmer only where light naturally hits: the lid, the high cheekbone and the cupid’s bow.”

3. Finish with a satin lip

Line with a liner one shade deeper than your lips, then press Pillow Talk in Pillow Talk Medium on with a fingertip for a softer, satin finish. Mist with setting spray and you’re done.

How to find your foundation undertone

October 10, 2026

Three checks that tell you whether your skin runs warm, cool or neutral — and what to do with the answer.

Undertone is the colour underneath your skin, and it does not change when you tan. Surface tone does. That is why a shade can look right in the bottle and wrong an hour after you put it on.

Three checks that take a minute

Look at the veins on the inside of your wrist in daylight. Green-looking veins usually mean a warm undertone, blue or purple usually mean cool, and a mix of both usually means neutral.

Hold a piece of plain white paper next to your bare face. Warm skin looks yellow or golden beside it. Cool skin looks pink or slightly blue. Neutral sits between the two.

Think about which jewellery suits you. Gold tends to flatter warm undertones and silver tends to flatter cool ones. If both look fine, you are probably neutral.

Using the answer

Once you know your undertone, you are choosing between a handful of shades rather than all of them. Warm skin suits foundations labelled golden, honey or beige. Cool skin suits those labelled rosy, porcelain or ivory. Neutral skin can usually wear either, so pick on depth instead.

Depth is the second decision and the easier one: match the foundation to your jaw, not your hand, and check it in daylight rather than under a shop light.

Swatch where it counts

Test along the jawline and blend a little down the neck. The right shade disappears. The wrong one leaves a line you can see from a step away.

If you are between two depths, take the lighter one for winter and the deeper one for summer, or buy both and mix. Mixing is what artists do and it costs nothing once you own two bottles.
